Originally from Toronto, Kardinal Offishall was able to establish a serious fan base in the US, especially due to his reggae style and interesting rhymes that remind of alternative hip-hop singers from New York. From his 1997 debut 'Eye&I', he had the possibility of collaborating with many big players. Four years later, he signed a big contract with MCA, for the release of his big 2001 debut 'Quest for Fire: Firestarter Vol. 1'. He included a lot of hits that were appreciated by both his American and Canadian public, such as "BaKardi Slang" and "Ol' Time Killin'". His visibility increased and his portfolio of collaborations expanded further with artists such as Sean Kingston, Clipse, Pharoahe Monch or Rich Ross. Last but not least, Akon signed him to his famous Kon Live label. In 2008, he jumped higher in the music charts with ‘Dangerous’, featuring Akon. Shortly after, it was followed by the same success with 'Not 4 Sale'.
