Without the 1998 ‘Devil Without A Cause’, Kid Rock would have been no more than a parenthesis in the history of music. The album had an impressive success of public and among the critics that helped the group to go beyond their previous stage of both troublemakers and trouble-seekers. Singles as ‘Bawitdaba’ and ‘Cowboy’ brought them platinum and made Robert James Ritchie famous for his particular musical style: a strange but successful combination of rock, country music, rap and dark metal. The next stage – ‘Cocky’ – introduced a milder and less diverse style, focused on the exploration of how to mix correctly rock and rap. With ‘’Kid Rock’ (2003) he went straight in the direction rock, with a lot of creative acoustic solo guitars that are going far beyond the hearts of the usual rock listeners. Three years later, the new album is a sample of classical rock, while the 2007 musical production ‘Rock N Roll Jesus’ succeeded to offer an amazing mixture of various songs melted into one. This is the example of the famous single ‘All Summer Long’ which is made of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, and ‘Werewolves of London’.
