Mannheim Steamroller is the brainchild of producer/composer Chip Davis. Davis was considered in the seven decades of the last century as one of the first composers on the nascent new age scene. He released a five album series entitled 'Fresh Aire'. His music combines musical fragments of modern classical music with segments of new age electronic music. In 1984, Davis hit the charts following his first successful attempt to produce holiday music: 'Mannheim Steamroller Christmas'. This album became a huge success with more than 5 million copies sold. The main focus of the album was the new age interpretation of ‘Deck The Halls’. Mannheim later produced other holiday music albums, seven dedicated to Christmas and two to the Halloween. Due to their overwhelming success, they are considered as one of the biggest producers of holiday music.
