Robin Thicke is part of a long chain of musicians, as his mother is the famous soap opera star Gloria Loring, and his father Alan Thicke, known for the role of Jason Seaver in ‘Growing Pains’, but also for his musical presence in game shows like ‘Wheel of Fortune’ or ‘Different Strokes'. As a kid, the one that from 2005 will be known as simply ‘Thicke’ was familiar with the acting and took some roles in shows for children. However, it was a career in music that he was looking for. As one of his friends was Andre Herrell, no one else than the president of Uptown Records, it was not difficult to find the right way for such a career. At the beginning, he wrote songs for big artists such as Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera or Mya. But it was also about time to make his own entrance in the world of music and thus, he launched ‘When I Get You Alone, that sampled Walter Murphy’s hit ‘A Fifth of Beethoven’. He won a lot of fans, among which Pharrell and Usher, whose appreciation brought him a contract with the much appreciated Neptunes’ Star Trak label.
