Usher had a record deal and a gold album by the time he entered puberty, and was one of the most visible R&B artists in the world by the time he finished high school. He released six albums between 1994 and 2006, as well as appearing in several films and earning multiple platinum records. 2004 was the peak of his superstardom, thanks to the chart-topping, Lil Jon-produced “Yeah!” The subsequent album, Confessions, netted him three Grammys and sold 11 million copies. The four years following the release of Confessions were rocky for Usher, as he became embroiled in a series of widely publicized controversies surrounding his mother, who also served as his manager. Usher “resigned her,” and in 2008 he got back into the musical spotlight with the ubiquitous summer jam “Love in the Club” off the album Here I Stand. After that album, Usher’s personal life made headlines again thanks to his drama ridden divorce from Tameka Foster. Usher channeled his struggles into his craft, resulting in the edgier, introspective 2010 album Raymond vs. Raymond. His seventh album, Looking 4 Myself, was released in 2012.
